New Painting From my Recent Trip to France

I went to Concarneau in France recently and wanted to capture some of the fine architecture while I was there, such as La Chapelle De La Croix, which dates back to 1540!
This drawing began as a rough sketch from my own photograph, which I then developed into a finished piece using Derwent Watercolour Pencils. I love using these, since they enable me to capture the precise architecture of a building but also add more expressive washes of colour.
While creating this piece, I was drawn to the figure of Christ on the cross and the wonderful contrast between light and shade on the steps.
As with any drawing involving perspective, it took a little time to get things right, but I'm happy with the end result.
